Chronograph - from the Greek words for ‘time’ and ‘writing’. A chronograph is a specific type of watch that combines a stopwatch with a typical display watch. The chronograph will have different counters for measuring time elapsed time, that can register seconds, minutes and hours. What sets different chronographs apart from each other are the functionalities that they are able to perform. The appeal of a chronograph watch for sportspeople, professional or amateur, is obvious. Timing is everything in most sporting events. But they also appeal for other reasons: some come with tide trackers, which are ideal for divers and surfers, and others come with moonphase dials, a feature beloved by many. Chronographs have been extensively used by astronauts in their space travel. There is something very primal about a chronograph - it evokes our fascination with time.
