There is something very solid and dependable-looking about a Certina man's watch. It is also a watchmaker well-known for its sportiness and sense of adventure, both in design and company philosophy. Certina is rightly famous for its renowned “DS” (Double Safety) system which guarantees both the tremendous shock-resistance and longevity of its watches. It is fitting then that the DS system is an integral part of the lunar-inspired DS-8 Chronograph Moon Phase range, as refined and traditional as a multi-functional timepiece can get.
Just like its stylish predecessor, this latest edition is equipped with a Precidrive™ movement that displays a hundredth of a second in analogue, as well as its uniquely original arrangement of chronograph displays. These chronograph functions are artfully arranged to show the 12-hour information in a window inside the 60-min. counter, while 60-sec. timing is displayed through the central sweep second hand. This allows for complete moon-phase information to be shown, including moon quarters and average cycle duration, which is placed at 10 o’clock.
The clever and eye-catching chronograph counter layout is placed against a contrasting black dial surface, for a very elegant look. The finely brushed sunray-finished black dial houses a date window at 4 o’clock for ease of reading, whilst slender HM hands and large faceted indices, all in PVD rose-gold, are generously trimmed in Superluminova for ease of viewing under all lighting conditions. All of the watch's sporty, functional features are subtly contrasted to perfection next to the rose-gold case and elegant faux crocodile finish leather strap. The case-back carries the historical CERTINA turtle logo as a further reminder of the timepiece’s reliability and long life - as eternal and affirming as the moon itself.
This latest edition of the DS-8 Chronograph Moon Phase is perfect for the businessman or the adventurer who wants a watch that is as reliable and assured as he is. This is a man who can appreciate a legacy timepiece but who wants it to be sporty and functional. This is a watch for the man with his feet firmly on the ground but with a sense of daring, even reaching for the stars.
